Austin Knight Flies are hand tied & tested by Austin James Knight along the Texas coast in North Padre Island. Austin's formative years were invested under the impeccable fishing instruction of his older brother Cooper Knight. It was in those priceless moments that one can see where the student has become a master in his own right.
As a child Austin spent his youth exploring the local tanks, creeks & rivers around central Texas chasing anything that swam. This created an undeniable fascination with small invertebrates and fish that still drives him today. In traveling the world with his family, primarily to Caribbean coastal destinations, Austin would seek out the beauty in the tiny shells, corals & various species of "pescados" others would look over. Austin Knight has always sought to bring that beauty and wonderment to light while behaving as a good steward of the outdoors to limit his footprint on the environment in which his favorite subjects thrive.
Austin Knight first placed his hands on a fly rod during a trip to Jackson Hole, Wyoming and was instantly hooked. The artistry in motion and close attention to detail required opened his eyes to a passion that would soon consume his world.
In college Austin and his roommate fished more than they studied and soon became skilled at this newfound love called fly-fishing. In being a talented artist it was natural progression for Austin to try his hand at fly tying to create masterpieces whenever he had a hard time locating the perfect fly for the areas he was fishing. It turns out it was time well spent as Austin Knight Flies gained in popularity. Austin's attention to detail and ability to capture the subtleties of the animals he replicates makes his tying style unmatched. Each Austin Knight Fly is not only a fly, but a work of art from a true student of
